In a conversation with Ife Sobogun, the technical lead at Paystack, he discussed the challenges they faced before partnering with Termii for communication technology. Paystack offers various payment options to its customers, such as card, transfer, USSD, and Apple Pay, but it often experienced downtime from partners, which disrupted its operations.

When asked about what they sought in a communications technology partner, Ife mentioned that Paystack needed a provider that could offer protection and reliability. Handling customers' money is critical, and ensuring fast, secure OTP prompts is essential. They were looking for a partner with high delivery success rates, affordable pricing, a real-time dashboard, and a local presence in African countries. Termii matched these requirements.

Ife explained further, stating, "Our delivery success rate was a significant factor; we needed a partner who could guarantee the reliable delivery of messages." "Termii's DND channel, which bypasses network-level DND configurations and delivers messages to mobile numbers, has been great for improving delivery rates."

Integrating Termii's solutions into Paystack's operations was seamless. They utilized Termii's transactional OTPs for completing transactions, transfer OTPs for disbursements, and mobile money OTPs in Nigeria, Ghana, and Kenya. "The integration process was smooth and seamless, allowing us to implement the solutions quickly and start seeing results," Ife noted.

With Termii, Paystack's delivery rates rose from 52% to an impressive 84%. This improvement was especially significant in Ghana, where over 85% of transactions are mobile money. The reliable service ensured customers received their OTPs promptly, reducing transaction abandonment and boosting transaction volumes.

According to Ife, "reliable service from Termii meant that our delivery rates improved, customers were receiving their OTPs in good time, meaning they were not abandoning their transactions, allowing us to process more transactions."

Paystack plans to leverage its partnership to enhance holiday-season sales programs by using WhatsApp for OTP delivery. This will provide even greater security with end-to-end encryption, preventing any data leakage.

"Data protection is very important to us, and using WhatsApp for OTP delivery enhances the level of security," Ife mentioned. "All WhatsApp messages are end-to-end encrypted, which prevents any form of data leakage."
